Short Answer: The commission is usually paid by the seller.
When purchasing a home or condo, there are usually two real estate agents involved. The seller's agent (also known as the listing agent), has a responsibility to get the best price and terms for the seller from the buyer. In contrast, the buyer's agent has a responsibility to negotiate the best price and terms for the buyer. The good news for buyers is that the commission for the buyer's and seller's agent, is usually paid for by the seller. Be sure to verify with your agent about how they will be paid.
